Taking Risks and Resting in God’s Promises
“We are not valuable because of the color of our skin, the job we do, our position in life or our wealth but we are valuable just because we are intrinsically made in the image of God.” — Anonymous
A series of events occurred in my journey that helped me make the major decisions in my life. It is risky business to leave familiar things. When I left Guyana, I had left behind the culture I grew up in, my family and friends, my family foods and lifestyle, and my language. I was willing to start all over again. I am a living witness; a woman who took a leap of faith and trusted in the God who created the universe. The one who created me, made life bearable, sometimes even hopeful under the most difficult of times. There were times when I personally wanted to give up because there seemed to be no way around or above my circumstances. I gained the strength to press on. God removed obstacles from my path and brought me to my appointed goal. You may say, “Why? Why should you take the risk?” I would like to suggest three reasons why you should trust God. 1) God’s eyes continually see our past. 2) God’s eyes continually see our present situation and 3) God’s eyes continually see our future.
God reminded me of Jeremiah 31:3, “The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying; I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving kindness.” It reaffirms that He really sees me!
